St. Mary's Philosophy Statement
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children.
We believe in the uniqueness and dignity of each child. We believe that
St. Mary's School is a Christian community, which provides a Catholic
foundation that nurtures the unique abilities of our students while
leading them to a full maturity in Christ.
St. Mary's Mission
St. Mary's Catholic School-building a strong mind, body and spirit
in Christ in a faith-based community.
Why a Catholic School Education?
The tradition of the Church has always seen Catholic education as
a process of forming young people into disciples of Christ Jesus. The
mission of a Catholic school is understood as part of our obedience
to the commandment of the risen Christ to “Go and make disciples”.
The Church believes and teaches that parents are the primary educators
of their children in faith and morals. St. Mary’s School exists
to assist parents in the promise they made to God and the Church on
the day of their child’s baptism: “To train their
child in the practice of the faith, and to bring them up to keep God’s
commandments as Christ has taught us, by loving God and our neighbor.” Our
educational approach and purpose is therefore very different from that
of a public school. In addition to setting high academic standards
in all subject areas, we are committed to forming disciples who will
witness to the world the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both
word and action. We know that we have been commissioned to transform
the world; bring reconciliation and healing to a world damaged by sin. We
exist to make saints because we recognize that our citizenship is in
heaven.
